Because he is ugly and will be in torment in hell. Satan will not be the one tormenting anyone in hell. God will torment satan and all of his followers in hell. You’ve got to backwards.

I don’t. Anyone who’s read the Bible at length knows that satan was once a cherub. And he’s going to come back some day pretending to be Jesus…how could he do that if he wasn’t cherub-like? Hmmm…

I dont believe that… The bible says that satan, appears and looks like an angel of light, in the garden he came in the form of a serpent and online he comes into forums and an dcalls GOD a sky fairy…lol Just kidding, but that is why you have so many people, even in this forum who are deceived.. Because they are waiting for the ugly guy in the red suit to show up not knowing that hes right in the room with the mwhispering little sarcastic thoughts in their heads….

Because some religious person was in a weird mood one day and got creative with their pencil while having illusions of grandeur of being a graphic artist some day and drew an image that expressed the mood he or she was in.
Centuries later, someone found this drawing and said it’s the ‘devil, satan himself.’
And it somehow stuck.
Satan will not be tormenting anyone. He will be the main one being punished when this world is over.
They want their god to reflect in his appearance their personality.
Just as Jehovah originally created humans in his image, now that they have fallen away to follow Satan, and since they reflect his personality, they think they are created in his – Satan’s – image.
Evil is ugly and evil destroys…..so the image of ugliness and hatefulness paints the correct picture of evil. Even though Satan was the highly most favored, his acts, according to the story, turned him from beautiful to ugly, in all respects………..It’s an allegorical tale to teach the difference of goodness compared to evil…..Evil is to be feared and goodness is to be trusted………….

Heaven Bound seems representative of many religious people positive in their going to heaven but positively giddy at the thought of everyone else being tormented. This despite the Bible shows God never torments anyone. It is either discipline or death with God regarding misbehavior.
As for not knowing the Bible, perhaps she should have actually read your question. While gleefully reporting on Rev. 20:10 about being cast into the lake of fire, she misses 20:14 that you quoted identifying what that lake of fire represented.
As for your question, that was one of Satan’s finest cons. What better way to make it seem he does not exist than to make his image so ridiculous no one would take it seriously?
As you point out in the scriptures you mentioned, Satan was actually fine in appearance with regard to (invisible to humans) angels. It was no doubt this haughtiness and pride that resulted in his turning to evil.
Today’s world proves it is so easy to get caught up in hype and image manufactured for public consumption. It has nothing to do with actual truth about matters. So we should not be surprised Satan used that tactic long ago to make it seem he did not exist as well. It is always far easier for the most sleazy and evil to work in the dark rather than in the light.
Because this is the teaching of false religion like the catholic church.Those religious leaders inculcate in the minds of everyone that Satan really looks like this one,having a horns,and this teaching was pass from generation to generation until it becomes widespread.I for one also before am very very scared because i was brought up as a catholic,they say that when you are bad you will go to hell & you will be tormented forever.Not until i found the truth when i study the bible,light shed on me,& i learned a lot that there are so many twisted things they keep on teaching which is not in harmony with the word of God.Now i have found the only one true religion;JWs & im so glad about it.
Unfortunately, poets like Milton and painters of the past, together with some churches have promoted this kind of ‘scary’ image.
It has been useful for churches to do so as it scares people into behaving in a more passive and perhaps receptive way to their ‘doctrines’. Sadly, these so called doctrines don’t often have a lot to do with the word of God in Scripture. You would think that if these churches did really believe in the LORD God they would be aware that they could invoke His wroth by their distortions of the truth.
Satan, in truth, just means the adversary and could be applied to any of us who would oppose God’s truth.
