Can someone help me find a good tent?

2 man tent
master chief 2.0 asked:

I need a good tent for less than $100. I want either a “tall dome tent” or a 1-2 man tent. I was going to get this one. http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___36298
If a get a 1-2 man tent I want it to have this type of front.

The reason I want that specific front for a smaller tent is that I can leave my shoes under the covered area and they will be dry after the rain/dew hits. Sorry if the price limit is too low.
Also I want to be able to find it in a store because if they let me set it up there I can check the dimensions in real life.

It’s been a while since I have tent shopped but campmor is a good start. That entrance you want is a vestibule, which gives a little place to put things such as shoes and bags outside the tent without being in the elements.
I have one similar it is a Kelty Vortex. Not sure if they make them any more but I’m sure they ave similar ones. Mine is a 4 man but it came in 2 man also and has a door and vestibule on both sides. The rain fly also goes all the way to the ground which is helpful.

I researched my tents in the Backpacker GearGuide.

Or Outdoor Places.com has a tent buying guide.

Good Luck and if I think of some more ideas I’ll post.

The tent you are looking at is a decent tent. But remember that you will most likely have most of your gear in the tent with you, so that a 2-4 man tent is more likely a two-man tent at best.

Dome tents are easy to pitch and withstand strong winds better than rectangular ones.

Campmor.com is my favorite outfitter and when I lived in NJ would make driving there a day journey. That place is amazing and if you ever get a chance to visit it, do it! A REI is next door and we saw tents at Campmor, same brand and variety, almost $100 cheaper there than at REI. Same thing for the shoes and backpacks.

The tent that your are looking at is an 8×8. It’s a good size for 1-2 people it’s hard to tell from your description how many people you wish to sleep. One recommendation is the Eureka Tetragon 8 which is similar to the tent mentioned but has a longer fly. The Fly is a very important part of the tent as it keeps the water heading away from you. You can also see other tents from the site referenced in the Eureka line. Price is higher but there are discounts and rebates.
